Trying to pull yourself out of a slump can be hard – sometimes your mood can take a drastic change without any explanation. While everyone will have different reasons for feeling down and so many different boosters that are likely to respond to, there are more than a dozen ways to quickly turn a bad mood around. Next time you feel a dip in your mood, try some of these techniques and see if they work for you.

Walk long – if you are feeling low, try going for a short walk using long strides, with your head high and arms swinging (this will increase your heart rate and release positive endorphins).

Have a cup of tea – having a cup of tea has been shown to have an instantly soothing effect. Tea contains an amino acid called theanine, helps to increase levels of the calming brain chemicals dopamine and serotonin.

Go for scent – aroma’s can stir a memory or an emotion more deeply than sights or sounds. Many floral scents contain a chemical compound called linalool, which helps to promote calmness.
