October Favourites |

October 31, 2018

October has been a whirlwind of a month, I am finally into the swing of my Masters degree and already hoping and praying I make it out alive.  This month has gone by so quick that I’ve blinked and today its Halloween.  I’ve had a quiet month and haven’t done anything too exciting, but meeting new people in Uni has been amazing.  I thought I would put together this post to show you what I’ve been loving this month.

I’m guilty of saying I spend most of my time just aimlessly scrolling through Insta throughout the day to procrastinate when I sure as hell have enough to do, but that being said, there are some gorgeous accounts and here are two of my fav’s this month! I’ve followed Lauren for so long, and I am literally obsessed with how cute her instagram is, & for the past month or so I’ve been getting serious Nail Inspo from NAF! Salon, I now have nails saved for every occasion of the year!
I know I’m about 2 months late to the game, but GOD, I am so Glad I found The Bodyguard on BBC iPlayer, within 2 nights I had finished the season and wondered what I was going to do next. If you haven’t watched the bodyguard, the drama is set around the fictional character of Police Sergeant David Budd (fit!), a heroic British Army war-verterian suffering from PTSD, who is now working as a specialist protection officer for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of London’s Metropolitan Police Service.  He is assigned to protect the ambitious Home Secretary Julia Montague whose politics stand for everything he despises.  Definitely worth a watch! You can watch it on BBC iPlayer here.
The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix! Ohh my, I am someone who absolutely HATES horrors of any kind, my mind just seems to work overdrive but I decided to bite the bullet and watch Hill House, and I am so glad I did! Its 10 episodes (you bet it only took me 2 nights) and its such an easy series to keep up with.  Disclaimer – there are bits which will make you jump, and maybe even scream but even with the scary bits, its one of the best things I’ve watched on Netflix this year!
Another fav’ is listening to Podcasts whilst on the way to uni or just before lectures. The Podcast app on the iPhone is bloomin’ marvellous.  The first podcast I listened to was Happy Place, by Fearne Cotton, who had various celebrities coming and having a general chit-chat about life, love, mental health and work.  They were light hearted and only 45 minutes long!
The one I’m currently listening to is ‘When Life Gives You Melons’ by Maya Jama, talking about work, life, sex and boobs.  This podcast features all female guests and is such a light hearted laugh! I would definitely recommend giving this one a listen!

This month I managed to read four books(!!) which is a miracle. There were two which were my favourites: Eleanor Elephant is Completely Fine – I very much underestimated this book, as it was a slow start and I didn’t think I would enjoy it, but after 50 pages, I was HOOKED! I’ve never read such a diverse book, I didn’t want it to end!
The Hate U Give, was my second favourite book of the month! This book has been on my TBR since 2017 and since the film is now in the cinema, I decided now would be the perfect time to read it! It is a powerful and Brave Young Adult novel about what prejudice looks like in the 21st century! It was truly heartbreaking and definitely needs to be shouted about!
Beauty n Bits
This month I have been lovin’ my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, I have been reaching for it every day and the colours are so beautiful and neutral that its been at the top of mum makeup bag. All the colours are rose-hued neutral eyeshadows and have been perfect for the transition into Autumn/Winter.

Finally, I’ve been lovin’ the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in No.34 (La Raffinee) on my lips! When I say this doesn’t need re-applying, I mean it! It lasts all day (even after eating and drinking) and it it such a gorgeous matte lip shade.  As its velvet, its not drying on the lips and perfect for the colder months!
